Hetki began in Finland with a simple but powerful idea: to share the timeless benefits of sauna culture through handcrafted, ready-to-use log saunas that honour tradition, quality, and ease of ownership. Founded by Janne Oksanen in 2021, Hetki grew from his love of sauna, log building, and a desire to bring a piece of Finland to those living abroad.
That same spirit resonates deeply in Canada—especially with those who carry sauna in their bones. As the child of Finnish immigrants, Markus Raty was introduced to sauna when he was just four weeks old. His father built saunas the traditional way, and the family sauna was more than a place to sweat—it was where the family gathered, slowed down, and reconnected. Over the years, Markus has advocated for sauna not just as a wellness practice, but as a way of life.
After founding his own sauna company and building custom saunas in the typical North American style—framed walls, insulation, vapour barriers—Markus found himself longing for the kind of solid-wood saunas his father grew up with. He began searching for a more traditional approach: a sauna that was true to its roots, beautifully built, and easier for people to own. That search led him to Hetki.
To bring this vision to life, Markus partnered with Robert Jones—an experienced entrepreneur with a strong background in operations and the owner of Saunacore, one of Canada’s leading custom indoor sauna manufacturers. Robert brings the strategic insight, production capacity, and trusted team needed to scale Hetki’s handcrafted saunas here in North America.
A Shared Purpose
Together, they have built a partnership that blends heritage with capability—uniting traditional sauna craftsmanship with modern-day efficiency. Their shared goal is simple: to help more people experience the beauty, authenticity, and lasting impact of a true sauna, and to build a growing community of Hetki owners who value what it means to pause, breathe, and be present.
